‘We make things that should matter, matter.®’

The 501 (c) (3) Foundation was created in July 2018 to honor the vision and mission of Gregory Proffitt, who passed far too young on 21 May 2018. The Foundation will be entirely funded by Spartan Medical® through June 2021, with 100% of all donations going to the causes we support. The goal is to help fund the hardworking charities that get the proceeds directly to real people, locally, on the front-line. The mission is to find people that have demonstrated the propensity to do good, and to incentivize that incredible behavior with funding, to make the biggest possible impact in the most expedient and efficient manner possible. Organizations supporting our
Veterans and Wounded Warriors

Luke’s Wings

Spartan Medical® is proud to be an annual sponsor for the “Heroes Walk to Fly” event benefiting our wounded warriors and their loved ones so they can be together during their hospitalization and rehabilitation. Thanks for all that you do for our Nation’s Heroes, Luke’s Wings!

Valhalla Sailing Project

Valhalla Sailing Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness and advocating for the mental and physical well-being of our nation’s transitioning Veterans. Through the sport of competitive sailing, we offer wounded, disabled, and evolving members an experience that replicates the sense of teamwork and camaraderie that so many Veterans find absent in their post-service lives. Valhalla Sailing Project is committed to encouraging, supporting, and teaching Veterans a healthy and productive sport.

Project Healing Waters

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. (PHWFF) began in 2005 serving wounded military service members at Walter Reed Army Medical Center returning from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since then, PHWFF has expanded nationwide, establishing its highly successful program in Department of Defense hospitals, Warrior Transition Units, and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers and clinics. Project Healing Waters brings a high-quality, full-spectrum fly fishing program, as a therapeutic tool, to an ever-expanding number of disabled active military service personnel across the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, in Military Hospitals and the Warrior Transition Command. Spartan focuses our resources wherever the need is greatest and expand our partner base in the process.

Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons (SOMOS)

The purpose of the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons (SOMOS) is to provide a forum for the interchange of medical knowledge as it relates to the practice of Orthopaedic surgery in the military. This organization is paramount to the advancement of orthopedics, within the DoD and beyond, and we are extremely proud to continually support the members of this organization.

Operation Homefront

Operation Homefront assists military families during difficult financial times by providing food assistance, auto and home repair, vision care, travel and transportation, moving assistance, essential home items, and rent-free transitional housing for wounded veterans and their families.

Wreaths Across America

While we have Veterans Day in the fall and Memorial Day in the spring, our servicemen and women sacrifice their time and safety every single day of the year, to preserve our freedoms. And in many homes across the U.S., every day there is an empty seat for one who is serving, or one who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. That is why our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach lasts all year long, far beyond the single day in December when we coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies. All throughout the year, Wreaths Across America works in a number of ways to show our veterans and their families that we will not forget—we will never forget.

Fisher House

Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military & veterans families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. These homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the world. Since inception, the program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $500 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

Ride 2 Recovery

Ride 2 Recovery, a groundbreaking Veterans program started in 2008, saves lives by restoring hope and purpose through an array of activities and resource offerings. The Spartan Team came together in Jan 2017 and raised $2700 in an evening for this terrific organization that makes a real difference for our Veterans. Keep up the great work Ride 2 Recovery!

United States Air Force Academy Endowment Fund

We believe strongly, as many do, that our Academy is a vital national resource — one that is deserving of our emotional and financial support. The Academy’s mission is simply too important to leave to the vagaries of federal funding alone. As a result, the USAFA Endowment will work actively to identify and to cultivate key relationships with current and potential Academy donors to support the Superintendent’s strategic priorities. We also believe that a foundation, singularly charged with the abiding stewardship of donated funds and constituted in such a way as to ensure the permanency and efficacy of the gift, is the most effective structure for providing this support to the Academy.

CIVILIAN Research and local

charitable organizations

Derek Sheely Foundation

Spartan Medical® was the primary sponsor of the 2013-2018 Annual Derek Sheely Race for concussion awareness and prevention. The Foundation has created Concussion Awareness Kits as part of their grassroots campaign to reach and inform young athletes (ages 5-18), their parents, and coaches to the signs, symptoms, dangers, and prevention of concussions and traumatic brain injuries. Spartan is proud to be a continual supporter and long-term partner.

For 3 Sisters

For 3 Sisters was started in 2011 by retired Montgomery County, Maryland career firefighter, Marshall Moneymaker, and his wife, Shannon Moneymaker after Marshall lost three older sisters to breast cancer. Overwhelmed with grief, Marshall started sharing his story and expressed an interest in doing more for the breast cancer community. In support and gratitude of Marshall’s awareness and outreach efforts, Marshall’s fire department shift mates surprised Marshall with pink firefighter gear. Friends and local media named him “The Pink Fireman”, and in honor and memory of his three sisters, For 3 Sisters was born.

Center for Sport Concussion Research and Service

The Center for Sport Concussion Research and Service is home to one of the leading facilities focused on traumatic brain injuries in athletics. The center uses leading edge technologies, such as a virtual reality (VR) incorporated with brain imaging tools, such as fMRI, DTI, MRS, ASL, SWI, and EEG, to examine the alteration of brain function and structure in concussed individuals.
