- Most consistent and reproducible PRP system per an independent study from Stanford University1
- Proprietary gel technology separates platelets/plasma from other blood components
- Leukocyte-poor and red blood cell (RBC) free
- Leukocyte-poor PRP may be the optimum preparation to stimulate superior healing without scar tissue formation2
- Fibrinogen preserved to protect platelets
- Low blood draw tube (9cc) and short spin time (6 min)
- Blood collection tube preloaded with Sodium Citrate anticoagulant. NOTE: because Selphyl uses Sodium Citrate vs. Acid Citrate Dextrose (ACD-A) no buffering is required to raise the pH of the plasma back to normal physiologic levels3
- Closed transfer system to reduce the risk of potential contamination from user handling
- Small, table-top centrifuge with pre-set yellow PRP button
- FDA-cleared: 510(k) #BK170096 (refer to instructions for use and 510K for indications and for additional information)
Selphyl Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) System
The Selphyl Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) System kit is based on the principle that platelets circulating in whole blood possess all essential proteins needed for tissue repair and regeneration. Using a standard blood-sample collection procedure, the Selphyl PRP kit separates and concentrates a patient’s own platelets while removing the undesirable red and white blood cells to create a gold colored, ultra-pure liquid PRP. Once separated, the treating physician is able to administer the ultra-pure PRP for orthopedic applications as deemed appropriate by the clinical use requirements (see physician testimonial) The Selphy PRP system produces consistent, reproducible, leukocyte-poor, fibrinogen preserved platelet-rich plasma.

As part of the body’s capacity to heal itself, platelets and other components in human blood migrate to a site of injury. Platelets are known to release a variety of factors that respond to tissue injury, where they initiate and promote healing. By concentrating platelets at the site of injury, physicians have the potential to enhance the body’s natural capacity for healing.

Improved Efficiency/Room Turnover & Reduced Cost:
Producing PRP from the Selphyl System kit requires a 9cc blood draw and 6-minute centrifugation spin yielding 3cc to 4cc of ultra-pure PRP. Many other PRP systems require high volumes of blood (60ccs or more), long centrifugation spin times, and/or a double-spin techniques, with multiple mixing and processing steps. When patient backlog is an issue, Physicians can realize improved efficiency and quicker room turnover when using the Selphyl PRP System kit vs. other higher volume systems that take more time to produce the same amount of PRP…which is time they don’t have.
Available on Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DoD) national contracts, Spartan Medical provides opportunities for these VA and DoD Medical Facilities to purchase Selphyl PRP System kits using bulk discount codes (10-kits per code) for additional cost savings in the Federal Government.
